Welcome to Smith Elementary, where every child is known, challenged, and supported to reach their full potential. Whether you are joining us for the first time or have been part of our school family for years, we are excited to welcome you.
At Smith Elementary, we believe every student deserves opportunities to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. As a Title I school, we are proud to provide individualized support that meets students where they are while also offering enrichment opportunities that help every learner reach new heights. Our teachers work tirelessly to ensure each child receives the instruction, encouragement, and resources they need to succeed.
Academic excellence is at the heart of what we do. Last year, 88% of our third-grade students passed the IREAD assessment, reflecting our commitment to strong literacy instruction and targeted interventions. Through individualized interventions and enrichment opportunities, we help students build the skills and confidence needed to become successful readers, thinkers, and problem-solvers.
Our school culture is grounded in our SOAR expectations: Self-Control, On Task, Achievement, and Respect. These values guide everything we do, from the classroom to the playground, helping students develop strong character, responsibility, and positive relationships. We believe academic success begins with creating a safe, welcoming environment where every child feels valued and connected.
Innovation and hands-on learning are part of everyday life at Smith. Our robust STEM program encourages students to explore, create, and solve real-world problems through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Our nationally recognized Robotics program exemplifies this commitment to excellence. Last year, our Robotics team earned the title of State Champions, and for four consecutive years our students have qualified to compete at the World Robotics Championship, demonstrating the creativity, collaboration, and perseverance that define our school.
Strong schools are built through strong partnerships with families. We are honored to have earned Indiana's Level 1 Family Engagement Certification, recognizing our commitment to building meaningful relationships between home and school. We know students achieve their greatest success when families and educators work together as partners.
Smith Elementary is also proud to be recognized as a Level 1 STEM Certified School by the State of Indiana, affirming our commitment to preparing students with the critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills they will need for the future.
